The summeris traditionally known as “silly season” when it comes to serious news; andindeed, after June 21st, news outlets and their readership seem todevelop as much a tendency to write about belching competitions, as to readabout the latest news from the hot dog eating competition. Holiday goers aregenerally not much of a serious crowd: they wish to be happy and entertained, and thus find serious news a burden.
On theother hand though, we at ECo-C.eu news have remained exempt from such silliness, largely because our goal is not to address the holidays of our readership, butto inform on a certificate dedicated to making everyday life easier and morepleasant. And in this train of thought, we must now report on an exciting, interesting development on the side of IPKeurope.
You haveprobably seen a mention or two of the ipad on this website: indeed, since itsrelease, this device has been most useful to the organisation in its manyevents. This is largely due to the polyvalent, interoperable nature of theitem. Being very simple to use, and benefitting from a rich range ofcheaply-priced applications, it is the ideal support for innumerable kinds ofpresentations.
Well, it isabout to get better yet. Insider IPKeurope intelligence (wink, wink, nudge, nudge) suggests that the organisation has decided to team up with two developersto create a new ipad application that will be useful to professionals who haveworked with, or want to work with, the ECo-C. The same sources report that, inthe main, they are expecting the application to be released on CommunicationDay 2011 (that is to say, March 5th of that year).
But as towhat it contains? Well, in this instance, it would not really be a matter ofwhat, as much as a matter of how: clearly, this would have something to do withthe ECo-C, and equally clearly, it will be used as a supporting tool forprofessionals, whether on the HR side or on the expert side. The question isthe format: should it be an encyclopaedic-flowchart type of resource, or a “personneldatabase” resource? Should it focus on helping people realise communication problemsand interpret them properly, or should it be more of a day-to-day registry ofinteractions, problematic and personal stances or goals?
One thingis certain: this is very far from a silly project, and will most definitelybear watching in coming months!
